The Basic of Affiliate Marketing

By Vener Catabay

By viewing this article, you must have already heard the buzz that affiliate marketing has been creating on the world wide web.  It is true that there are a great number of internet-based businesses owned by companies and even by individuals who have been raking an unbelievable amount of profit by simply doing affiliate marketing.

What is affiliate marketing, anyways?

Following are the basic ideas about affiliate marketing:

  • It is a revenue-sharing concept in which an affiliate (more like a salesperson) gets paid by a merchant (product owner) for getting a customer buy the merchant’s product.
  • An affiliate has to apply to become a merchant’s affiliate, and thereby gets a unique ID that he attaches to a clickable link of the merchant’s product. Every time someone buys using his unique ID, he gets his commission.
  • The product owner supplies (or ought to supply) an affiliate all the marketing tools to promote the product like banners, links, email samples, solo ad samples, and others.
  • An affiliate spends or uses his own money and resources to sell a merchant’s product for a specified profit of the sale.

Becoming an affiliate entails knowledge of the product in respect to its marketability. It is therefore necessary to research beforehand everything an affiliate could know about the product he wishes to promote.

There is no better place to research about any product, but Google, itself. Whatever product it is, anyone could “Google” about it to make sure that the product is really what it says it is based on the available reviews about it online.

When satisfied with all the researches done, an affiliate could start marketing it in various ways like through article marketing, social media marketing, blogging, video marketing, or even just direct linking.

If you are lost with all the various ways of marketing a product, it simply means you still have to educate yourself more about affiliate marketing before you could decently earn from it. Affiliate marketing for a profit works for those who know how to do it. It is a must for anyone who wants to make this his sole source of livelihood to invest in learning all he could about it.

If you want to be an affiliate of the merchants who have their own products to sell, then you are bound to trek a path of learning it. There are lots of money to be made as an affiliate marketer. But in order to be successful, you would definitely have to educate yourself or be mentored by someone who’s already successful in it.The easier way, of course, is to be mentored

There are lots of beginning courses on affiliate marketing.

List Building And Affiliate Marketing Go Hand-in-hand

By: Tellman H. Knudson

If you’re into Internet marketing as an affiliate for someone else’s program, how are you advertising your opportunity? I mean, are you just putting out the same old stale page that everybody else uses, or are you building your own page and list building at the same time?

Unless it’s specifically stated in your affiliate agreement, and the means you use isn’t illegal, such as spamming, you can use any means to sell a product. Generally, affiliate pages, emails, and so on are there for your convenience. They at least get 80% of the people moving, who might otherwise take no action at all. Here’s the thing: 20% of the people will be active affiliates, and they’re having greater success because they’re treating the affiliate program as part of their own businesses. They’re more creative, they get more sales, and everyone’s happy.

Setting up a list building page to sell your affiliate product is something you should take action on. Give a review of the product away on your list building page, to entice people to sign up for your list. If you’re going to do that, be sure that you can stand behind the product, that you have used it, and proved that it works. The review can be 250 words or less.

Your review should include information on the features that benefit the user. It should also give the cons of the product. Nothing is 100% great. Usually, there are small things that you would change, if you had a magic wand. Let people know those, too. If your review is too glowing, it won’t seem real. Make it real. Here’s what I mean:

Internet marketing expert, Tellman Knudson’s My Fist List is an easy step-by-step list building information product for new Internet marketing businesses. You will learn how to set up your own domain and web hosting services so that you can get your list building pages onto the Web quickly and easily. It also teaches you to build those squeeze pages without messing with cumbersome HTML. The best part is how to find a reliable autoresponder and how to set it up to make money for you on autopilot. My First List takes all the thinking and questioning out of list building for you.

The only drawback that some might see is that you will need to spend money to get the system working, but you know what they say, “You have to spend money to make money.” And in my experience, paid is always better than free.

But the very best thing about this system is that it works! I’ve tried it, and am making money with it already, though I just bought it last week. How great is that? If you want more information about MyFirstList, just fill in your first name and email address and we’ll get it to you right away.

This might not be as good example an example as a straight affiliate page because an affiliate link for MyFirstList would lead to another squeeze page. People might be shy about opting-in twice before they even see what the product is about, unless they’re very excited by your review. However, if the product you’re selling has a sales page or it’s just to their main website, writing something like this and adding it to a list building shouldn’t be a problem. This is just an example.

Anyway, after they opt-in to your list and confirm their membership, the first autoresponder message should be a “thank you” page. Also give people a bit more information about the product or Internet marketing program, and an opportunity to buy or join by including your affiliate link. This is very easy to do and you should always be list building, any way you can.
